Photography

I first learned about photography from my Dad and his Nikon. Once I was on my own and learned that Canon was better - I got a AE-1 program and shot photos and slides. I'm still working on getting those early shots into digital format. I spent many hours working on old photographs that my grandma had and I could not have done it without the new post production software that we have today. I did update my camera to a DSLR and learned all about lens quality. Check out some of my photos on the linked web pages.

Computers

My thoughts about computers are varied: I've used Windows, UNIX, and Apple computers and they all have their uses. I game on Windows systems because of the expansive game collection. I use the UNIX system for coding and work-related tasks. And I really like the graphic photo editing capability of the Apple systems.

Cockatoos

I've always kind of liked squirrels but since they don't generally make good pets and are hard to catch, I don't have one. Then you have cats and dogs; both are very good pets with their pluses and minuses. But birds, especially the big ones, have the most personality.

Motorcycles

Ever since I was able to drive, I've had access to a motorcycle. Initially I borrowed my friends bike and we would ride on the dirt tracks behind the houses. Then my dad helped me buy my first Honda - oh, the miles I put on that poor little 200cc bike. Over the years the bikes have gotten bigger and now I've got the GL1800A that is almost 10 years old. There is just something about driving free that calms the soul.
